Job Summary
Compassionate Peer Support and Training, LLC is hiring for multiple Peer Support Specialists that can draw upon their personal growth experience to carry forward the message of hope and recovery.
Responsibilities may include:
- Meet with peers on a regular basis, or as needed after initial meeting, to discuss routine recovery issues from a peer perspective.
- Assist in finding necessary community services to meet basic needs.
- Outreach and follow-up with peers where they live as needed.
- Support peers in the securing of transportation, filling out forms or making phone calls.
- Accompany peers to appointments and court as needed. (You do NOT need to provide transportation)
- Explore recovery resources with peer.
- Provide education about and attend self-help groups as needed.
- Model behavior that is consistent with and supportive to people in recovery from mental illness, and chemical dependency, such behavior will include upholding ethical standards of the program and reliable attendance.
- Support peers in developing coping strategies.
- Support peers in developing life skills, including time management, budgeting, and social activities.
- Assist peers in creating their own unique recovery plan.
- Write notes and maintain confidential client records.
Additional Duties May Include:
- Provide personal assistance in the completion of daily living skills.
- Perform other routine support tasks, including filing, photocopying, answering telephones, and compiling statistical reports.
- Attend weekly clinical staff meetings.
- Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
- High School Diploma required.
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Knowledge and experience in the field of substance use disorder.
- Some college courses in human services or related field preferred.
- Must identify as living in good recovery.
- Must be a trained Peer Specialist or Recovery coach
- Compassionate and organized individual to work in cooperative team relationship within the agency and with external community organizations.
- Must be able to work independently.
- Must be innovative, driven, visionary, reliable, and self-motivated
- Word processing/email experience required.
- Must have the ability to work with and relate effectively with people of diverse economic and cultural backgrounds.
- Must be able to pass DHS caregiver background check.
- No more than three moving violations including DWI/accidents in past three years.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Must understand there are many pathways to recovery and support is unique to each person.
- Reliable transportation.
LOCATION:
- Please note: appointments may take place at peer’s home, in the community, by phone, or by zoom dependent on peer’s needs.
- Areas served: Racine and Walworth Counties
HOURS:
Flexible/as needed (shifts that may include evening and weekend appointments).
